Job Description
The U.S. Embassy in Sana’a is seeking an individual for the position of Security Escort Coordinator in the Regional Security Office (RSO) Section.

Basic Function Of Position:
This senior locally employed staff (LES) member for the local guard program (LGP) will be responsible, with guidance from the Regional Security Officer (RSO), for the planning, and oversight of the protective security program within the larger framework of Post’s integrated security plan.

Qualifications Required:
NOTE: All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item.

A. Education:
  • A High School Diploma is required.
B. Prior Work Experience:
  • Incumbent must have at least 2 years experience in a relevant field of knowledge.
  • Work experience is required and may include, but is not limited to, combined work experience in the police or military or private security firms.
D. Language Proficiency:
  • Level III (good working knowledge) English and Level IV (Fluent) Arabic speaking/writing is required.
E. Job Knowledge:
  • Incumbent must understand the general organization and responsibilities of all RSO programs as they related to protective security, as well as the LE Staff employment handbook, and all the various aspects of host government security entities.
  • Incumbent must understand technical and physical security equipment and devices.
F. Skills and Abilities:
  • Incumbent must have the ability to work under pressure, a good working knowledge of word processing.
Selection Process:
When fully qualified, U.S. citizen eligible family members (USEFMs) and U.S. veterans are given preference. Therefore, it is essential that the candidate specifically address the required qualifications above in the application.

Additional Selection Criteria
  1. Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and residency status in determining successful candidacy.
  2. Current employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply.
  3. Current Ordinarily Resident employees with an overall summary rating of Needs Improvement or Unsatisfactory on their most recent employee performance report are not eligible to apply.
  4. Currently employed US citizen EFMs who hold a Family Member Appointment (FMA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment.
  5. Currently employed NORs hired under a Personal Services Agreement (PSA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment unless currently hired into a position with a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.
  6. The candidate must be able to obtain and hold the appropriate security clearance.
